You don't have the write your book to be its author. Or did you think all those books on the shelves were actually written by the people whose names appear on the cover?

Even some of the best-loved "authors" on the shelves didn't really write their books themselves. They used good ghosts, and there is no shame in that. The ghostwriter takes an individual's ideas and first helps him/her flesh those ideas out (usually outlining with that individual on paper before taking the next steps). Then the ghost interviews the individual over time, taking a step-by-step path through the outline to get what is needed for a good outcome, which in this case is a completed manuscript. The process should be fun and enlightening for both parties. The interview times will vary depending on the material and type of book.

For the most part, we have only been involved in ghostwriting for non-fiction or business book projects. We tend to think a work of fiction should actually be written by the person who dreams it into a full-blown book manuscript. We have been approached by individuals who have great ideas for books, but who want us to write them based on fairly scant notes/ideas. Our answer is no in that case. We can coach people who want to write a work of fiction and don't exactly know how to start or keep going, and we offer full editing services for fiction to those who have written a book and need help getting it into finished and publishable form. EVERY writer needs a good editor. That is a truth. Ask some of the authors of best sellers. They will tell you that without their editor they may not have gotten so far. Getting a book to market is a team effort. No writer is an island!
